My sourdough is made from 5 organic ingredients and is naturally fermented with no commercial yeast. In fact, the only ingredients in the sourdough are a few different kinds of flour, water, and salt. Because sourdough is naturally fermented using a sourdough starter, the yeast breaks down some of the sugars and gluten making it much easier to digest. Furthermore, because one of the flours in the sourdough is freshly milled flour, it ends up with a very high amount of vitamins and minerals compared to other whole wheat flours that have had a chance to oxidize. While commercial bread uses wheat berries sprayed with dangerous pesticides like roundup, I choose to use traditional, 100% certified organic wheat berries grown with the health of the consumer in mind. Ultimately, I value the health of my customers and will continue to use these high quality ingredients.

Currently I only make plain loaves of sourdough, however in the near future I may sell other kinds of sourdough or baked goods like bagels. The freshly milled flour tends to be harder to bake with, hence the loaf not being 100% freshly milled flour, however, using it for 50% simply makes it a tighter, more sandwich-friendly loaf without large holes for spreads or toppings to fall out of. To maintain this artisan quality, I bake all of my sourdough in large batches and only sell it two days a week. Because sourdough loaves are best fresh, the loaves will always be delivered within a few hours of being baked. Consequently, orders must be made ahead of time and will be available for delivery or pickup on Sundays and Wednesdays. Specifically, orders must be made at least one day in advance and can be made up to four weeks in advance. I will deliver loaves in the afternoons of Sunday and Wednesday, and if you have any requests and will be gone you may leave a note when ordering. I currently deliver to most addresses in the main part of Ankeny for a small fee of $2-3 depending on your distance to me, and all addresses within the Prairie Trail neighborhood receive free delivery! Otherwise, if you do not choose delivery, you can pick up your order at my address.

The bread plan is a fantastic way for you to replace all of your store bought bread with a healthier and tastier option. When you sign up for the bread plan, your loaves will automatically be ordered (which you can cancel), and you will gain priority over other customers when ordering. Additionally, when you sign up for the bread plan, every loaf will be $2 off compared to the regular price of $12! Once you receive your loaf, keep in mind that sourdough bread is best in the first few days and lasts around one week at room temperature. Some people refrigerate their sourdough to make it last longer, but I would not recommend doing that because it dries quicker, yet somehow freezing your sourdough is a fantastic way to store it because it retains much more moisture than in the fridge.

The Weekly Bread Plan

The Bread Plan is a great way for you to get sourdough bread regularly without the hassle of ordering! The best part about the bread plan is that when you order plain sourdough, it will always be $10 instead of $12! All you need to do is pick when you want your sourdough every week and decide on pickup or delivery. This can all be changed in the My Orders panel. You can also block off days that you won't be home or do not need more sourdough. If you want to transition from store bought bread to a healthier, fresher option, the Bread Plan is a great solution.
